Hello,

we plan to build a garden shed ourselves. Not made of wood, but of masonry blocks. According to the current state of affairs, we will probably use sand-lime bricks. They seem to us the easiest at the moment. The garden shed will have external dimensions of about 3.85m x 2.2m and be about 2.3m high. The roof is to be properly covered with clay tiles.
Can one of you perhaps tell me what thickness the bricks need to be? Two of the four walls are to be externally clad with facing bricks after completion. The other two sides won't be visible anyway because of the fence.
If you have any other ideas regarding the type of bricks, I am definitely open to suggestions.
Thanks in advance and a curious greeting
Manuela

Hi, since a house like this doesn't have to withstand much, I would take the thinnest bricks available. And even so, it will still be quite compact. In your place, I would rather use wood. Pinsel

Hi,

since a garden house is fully exposed to the weather, I would use stones that cannot absorb so much moisture. Otherwise, it is always a damp matter and it can mold more easily.

Hello Ganurin, which stone is best to use? As mentioned, two of the 4 walls are no longer worked on / treated from the outside and none of the walls are treated from the inside. But the house should have a solid roof with roof tiles? Which stones are best and also cheap?

Thanks and regards Manuela

Hello Manuela! Regarding price-performance, I would recommend partition wall stones (concrete) ZW12 - according to your information, you need 255 pcs. concrete stones Dimensions W/L/H: 12/50/22.1 Stone consumption: 9.1 pcs/m² Mortar consumption: approx. 6 l/m² Weight per piece: 15 kg Pieces per pallet: 80 I think this is best suited for your project. Unfortunately, you have to check the price yourself because it always fluctuates, but I would say you are around 1.- Euro per piece. Best regards.

Hello Jackal,
that sounds totally vague.
I suspect you can also name a company for me? "Concrete blocks" mean nothing to me at all. I know Poroton, sand-lime bricks, clay bricks but no concrete blocks. Are there perhaps local differences in the naming of stones?
Thanks anyway!
Best regards
Manuela
