Venetian blinds and roller shutter motors - can a wireless remote control be retrofitted?

Hello everyone!

Our venetian blinds and roller shutters are operated conventionally by switch.

Now I had the idea that it would be nice to be able to operate a few venetian blinds and roller shutters ADDITIONALLY by remote control.

Is there a way to retrofit that?

The switch should remain and continue to function normally...

yes, for example Eltako radio roller shutter actuators. These are installed behind the switch, provided the space in the box is not too tight. about 50€ each. Otherwise, there is also quite a lot in the cheap Chinese smart home corner, Shellys and the like. They operate via WLAN. You then need a server for this, remote control via app.

There will be more examples. KNX-RF would also be an option.

Take a look at the 2.5 Shellys. They cost 20 euros each and actually fit easily behind a switch (if it is installed in a deep flush-mounted box). I have equipped all the blinds in the house with these actuators and can now nicely control them via app. It has also been running very stably for months. The Shellys offer the possibility to perform time-controlled actions out of the box (e.g. go up at sunrise, down, ...) or to link all devices of a room/floor/whole house together via groups.

What you do need near the switches, however, is an L (live), N (neutral) and of course WLAN reception...

Wi-Fi reception would definitely be there.

Unfortunately, I don't know how it looks with live and neutral. The roller shutter switches are installed "individually." So not in a triple frame or anything like that. Are L and N usually included there by default? I have no knowledge of electrical work!

There are ones from jarolift with radio control and remote control. The switch is simply replaced.

Just take off a switch and see what kind of cables are there... it's quick to check. Then you can decide which direction to go. But first turn off the fuse for the room.

I can't say if it's standardly provided. If you have no knowledge of electricity, better stay away.
