@DrHix

I had that thought as well.
By the way, they are not running at a loss. Just not making enough profit.

The owners gave 150k as the starting price, to be exact.

No, the 80 is not on the table. See above:

So far, everything is still open from my side. Including the rent increase proposal.

Your depiction of the loan prospects sounds quite plausible and good, though.

Do you want to keep living there forever now?

Let's briefly summarize the situation:
- Location of the property at the middle of nowhere in a rural area within a landscape protection zone
- The house is more of a small "fixer-upper" needing investment than a cozy oasis
- Since it is in a rural area, the legal status of the house is rather unclear; extensions/new construction are rather excluded
- Value of the house including the land is intangible, as it is at most a niche property for little money (who wants to buy the house?)

Why the hell do you want to commit yourself to this shack? Be glad if you are allowed to live there cheaply as a tenant. Who would even evict you? A city dweller who becomes a dropout? Sorry, forget the purchase and let the owners do whatever they want. Wanting something is one thing, actually finding a fool who makes a pointless investment for a lot of money and is crazy enough to move in there is another.

I never really wanted to settle down in one place. On the other hand, it’s very nice here with the creek. And also, with everything I’ve already built (tinkered) here and the memories, they tie me to this place. I can’t imagine moving out right now. But who knows what the next few years will bring. And as I said before, I wouldn’t accept any price, even if I could pay it off over the years.

Yes, everything is very uncertain and actually argues against it. Although the first point doesn’t bother me. I’d rather drive half an hour to the city than live there. The conversation is coming up now. Then I’ll know more.

Whereas a half-hour commute nowadays is no longer considered that long as a way to work. I wouldn’t be too sure that the property wouldn’t also be (VERY) interesting to others.

I wouldn’t buy that thing either. A wreck with a tenant in the middle of nowhere with no prospect for expansion - there’s surely no line of people waiting for it now.
