: How far along are you with the building?

Yesterday and today the ceiling was "installed." Roof still uncovered, but will be done next week. Now finishing the wall constructions in the bathroom, then the remaining sanitary preparations and plastering at the beginning of next week. It's going well. About 3 - 6 people are bustling around the construction site every day. All very pleasing. We are – also due to the repeated inspections by the expert – more than satisfied with our general contractor. Additional costs for "upgrades" absolutely fair.

We are a little further along. Tomorrow, the insulation for the screed will be installed and the underfloor heating laid.

Are you building a bungalow? I think I read that in a thread just recently.

Well, then I could still catch up with you (unfortunately, I myself have "zero" influence on that). Yes, a bungalow, although I wasn't so enthusiastic about it at first. But it already looks really nice now and the whole family is looking forward to moving in. Our (almost) six-year-old no longer wants to swap his room with my study.

We have occasionally flirted with the idea of a bungalow. After all, none of us are getting any younger. However, we will not stay in the Rhineland until old age. That means we will sell the house again in 10-15 years and move to the coast. Therefore, for us it will be a city villa with two full floors. Obtaining [e.g., permits] would actually be possible. Since yesterday there has been utter emptiness at the construction site. No craftsman involved in the interior work has shown up today. Only the utility providers are all on site.

I'm glad that we're through. This is roughly what it looked like around this time last year for us.
