Hello everyone,

I have a (probably very stupid) question:

In the living room and bedroom, I have 2 Cat7 network sockets each with 2 ports. How can I use these now? For example, I would like to connect the receiver in the living room, but the FritzBox is located in the utility room and the receiver does not offer Wi-Fi. How does the connection work now? All my Google attempts only lead me to blogs that explain basic cable laying, so I am probably searching for the wrong keywords... If anyone has a guide or knows which keywords I should search for: please get in touch!

Thanks in advance

Out of the Fritzbox (through one of its yellow ports, "LAN"), into a patch panel, from which it goes to the mentioned socket, plug the receiver in there. The described way assumes that the receiver expects a signal that the Fritzbox can actually provide, and that you are only asking about the cable routing.

Tell me which receiver you have?

Yes, I think that was my question. I have no idea about the patch panel, I need to google that first. Before the move, the direct connection from Fritzbox to receiver worked. Now I want/have to go the detour via the network sockets.

A patch panel is just a slightly larger network socket in which all the cables from the rooms come together.

Now you take a patch cable from the Fritzbox to the patch panel (of course, select the correct port) and in the living room a patch cable from the network socket to the receiver.
