We will do this with the leasehold as well. Only the leasehold contract and the approval for the sale of the house or the "transfer of the leasehold" are missing, the mills of the state of NRW grind very slowly :/

me again. The whole thing is being delayed because the current owners and the [Erbpachtgeber] do not have this said [Erbpachtvertrag]. Only the entry in the land register exists.

Is something like this even possible?

Yes. Something like that is possible. One person is careless with their documents, the other one too.

Actually, there should still be a third copy; namely at the [notariat]...

Notariat is then a central office? Or do you mean the notary responsible at the time? Getting hold of them will probably also be difficult. Or does, for example, the current notary who is handling the transaction in our case possibly also have access to such a leasehold agreement?

What else comes to mind is the land registry office. I told the sellers to also inquire there...

The notary responsible at the time. Why is that difficult? Notaries do not simply disappear. The documents are transferred. Why should the land registry office have the contract? The notary has it?
