You are not allowed and cannot give legal advice. But I would check whether there is a completion date in the offer/invoice.

However, there is this tacit consent... since you never pressured him, you probably now have to wait patiently with a written deadline.

Otherwise, I don’t know, except for going to a lawyer. Maybe just call him and politely ask if he is sick ;)

If it goes to the legal route, you come to the keyword of proportionality and reasonable time periods. So you must now demand a reasonable deadline for the completion of the work; if he does not meet it, you could threaten and ultimately carry out a replacement performance, i.e., you let another company finish the demolition. You might not see the money again quickly. Let this be a lesson for house construction: no advance payment, payment of all trades only after completion in the construction progress.
