Undo Bafa funding? Blocking period?

Dear house building experts,
we originally planned to build with solid construction. With a geothermal heat pump. We submitted the corresponding Bafa application for the specific pump in December. However, for various reasons, we have now decided against solid construction and will build a prefabricated house – then with an air-to-water heat pump as a KfW40plus house.

To make it short: Do I have to proactively inform Bafa that I will not use the applied-for funding in order to be able to apply for the funding for the KfW40plus house at all? And if so: Is there a kind of blocking period during which I am not allowed to apply for funding for the prefabricated house?

Many thanks for your expertise, because due to the changes from Bafa and KfW regarding BEG I simply don’t know what to do anymore...

Kind regards and stay healthy

I would just give them a call, they are really nice and competent. At KFW there was at that time a blocking period of 9 months. However, the reason here was due to improved conditions as of a specific date. But the project is supposed to be carried out differently here and you also want to switch from Bafa to KFW. It will work out :)

I tried. Unfortunately, during the pandemic, you cannot reach anyone by phone. And I do not get a response via email.

Also at KFW? I already called there this week and everything was fine.

Yes, I did reach the KfW. However, they did not seem completely sure and referred to the energy consultant, whom of course we do not have yet. The general tone of the KfW lady on the phone was: "For us, Bafa does not count, only Program 153 matters. I cannot imagine that there will be problems with the KfW funding if you do not take advantage of the Bafa funding. Because we fund the entire energy efficiency measure and not the individual component. The previous Bafa funding was more like the icing on the cake. But to be sure, please ask your energy consultant."

Phew, that's annoying. And then there's another catch: You can't necessarily take what the energy consultant says at face value. Especially with the formal things, we had problems everywhere. Now we want to build anew and the court case against the (old) energy consultant is still ongoing. I wouldn't let myself be brushed off like that and would ask again to find someone who knows exactly. And always write down the names.
