If the house is hardly colder than the bathroom anyway, no electric heating is needed for the bathroom. That is individual, for example, we deliberately planned the bathroom at only 21 but with electric heating. If you want permanently high temperatures in the bathroom, you should plan a lot of heating surfaces. The bathroom often has limitations regarding heating surfaces. But it does not have to be that way in every house.

Hydrl. balancing sounds good!

We did it the same way as . Simply connected the towel radiator to the bathroom heating circuit. The towel radiator is only lukewarm in winter, but it’s also just a good way to dry towels. Our general contractor asked back then whether it should be electric or connected to the underfloor heating. We chose underfloor heating.

In the guest bathroom (including shower), we provided a socket for an electric towel radiator in case we want to retrofit one there. Currently, the shower is not being used. But at the latest when the little one is big enough to shower by himself, it might come to the point where I retreat to the guest WC in the morning.

But if the radiator only gets lukewarm even in winter, then I might as well completely do without it and also save the thousand euros.

With us, the towel radiator was included in the price, the electric cartridge would have caused additional costs. Usually, the towel radiator replaces the missing space under the bathtub and is then accordingly included in the overall scope.

With us, leaving it out would have resulted in a 100€ credit and you have to hang the towels up somewhere anyway. He also mentions the very small area of the bathroom. The two heating circuits of the bathroom alone do not bring the temperature, we noticed that when my wife had turned one off.

We faced this question today with the architect of the sub as well. Opinions vary greatly. Therefore, please share your experience.

Variants:
1.) Underfloor heating without towel radiator

- is this sufficient to keep a 10m² bathroom with shower & bathtub at 21°?
- does the bathroom remain colder than the other rooms due to the smaller heating surface?

2.) Underfloor heating with towel radiator on the same heating circuit as the bathroom

- the heating surface is slightly increased but the towel radiator has only a temperature of 21°
- does the advantage of the “larger” heating surface outweigh this?

3.) Underfloor heating with towel radiator on a separate heating circuit

- probably the least energy-efficient solution

Please provide experience reports

4.) Underfloor heating with electric towel radiator

- switchable as needed
