Good day, I have a quick question and would greatly appreciate an answer. We have installed the ventilation heating system with a hot water heat pump. Now the hot water preparation turns on in the evening after washing and in the morning after showering. So then when there is no sun – we operate a photovoltaic system at the meter simultaneously. Would it make sense to run the hot water heat pump with a timer only for 2 hours at noon when the sun is shining, or would switching the hot water heat pump (practically the boiler) on and off via the timer cause damage? Background: the heat pump starts as soon as the water falls below a certain temperature and then heats the water to the set temperature. The ventilation system heat pump is separately controlled from the hot water heat pump. Many thanks in advance for your assessment.

If you need warm water outside the specified operating times, you go down to the basement and manually switch on the pump??? I wouldn’t do it - simply out of convenience. Of course, you can save some electricity this way, but is it worth the comfort effort? My heat pump runs into an error if the software wants to start the water treatment and the pump doesn’t switch on (because there’s no power). Warm water always has priority with me (as specified by Stiebel), so it would always try to make warm water if the target temperature is undershot, and therefore wouldn’t heat anymore. Maybe you can work with day / night programs? At night set the target temperature for warm water to 4 degrees and during the day to 45 degrees - only stupid if you want to shower in the morning and have no warm water,...

Timer switch is rather less suitable. A small PLC (e.g. Logo) for intelligent control brings the desired success without comfort losses. Prerequisite is knowing the subject or getting someone who can do it...
