What actually happens if you don't adhere to the timeframe?
For example, if the development plan stipulates that construction must begin within two years of purchase, but you don't start?
Is something like this additionally regulated in the purchase contract?

We also thought that was good back then. We also build in that style. The extension is possibly necessary in this size to build "single-story". It is mandatory in almost every NBG for single-family houses in our area.

That was regulated in our case. Whoever does not do it on time must pay the costs for undoing the whole thing.

Well, as I said, the land is available and has belonged to us for decades. It has always been my grandparents' wish that we build our house there. To be honest, I was always a bit reluctant to build directly in the family's neighborhood, but land is especially not cheap at the moment and there is currently nothing available in our village. So why only in 2019? I quit my job to study and therefore have not been working again for very long. My girlfriend is currently doing a part-time further education course that will be completed this year. I therefore want to save up some equity and she wants to finish her training. Since our respective best friends are getting married next year and we want to go on a big vacation one more time, we have decided on early 2019. We do not have any costs breathing down our necks either, since we can live rent-free.

At least not from me. Our extension is definitely as big in square meters as it needs to be for the single-story layout, which exists in Lower Saxony when two-thirds of the area upstairs is from the downstairs. But it depends on how many full stories you are allowed to build.
