Thanks to you all!

The picture is not current. Just wanted to show the small bathroom ;-)

Unfortunately, I don't have a basement or a private area to lay tiles.
I do want to have a tenant, but we're talking about a net cold rent of somewhere between 230-300 euros per month, hence the idea arose.

Just do it. With the small area and inexpensive tiles, you simply throw them out if the result doesn’t fit at all.

Chalk paint is supposed to work on tiles. I would smooth out the floor with filler and then lay this design floor.

Encourages me, thanks! I feel like it, only my limited craftsmanship still makes me doubt ;-) But yes, maybe I should just watch countless tutorials and videos and just do it, let's see. As I said, I had painted the other bathroom with tile paint. Unfortunately, the result was not so optimal, so I didn’t want to put myself through that again.

I know tile paint with the annoying steps and it’s not comparable to chalk paint. Just Google it :) Otherwise, before the internet era, I also tiled as a non-tiler. 60 sqm and a bathroom after gutting. But I had a tiler as an advisor and books from the library ;) With the right tiles and a good tile cutter, it’s not rocket science. However: I would advise against walls as a layperson. And that’s why my advice: #9

You can definitely do that yourself.

I have 10 rental apartments. The bathrooms have been renovated once but not that great. Certainly simple standard with white tiles. I have now had 4 bathrooms done. First, the sanitary specialist company came. New concealed cisterns with wall-hung toilets, laying pipes. Washing machine connection with water + drain, costs about 700 euros per bathroom.

I attached the washbasins myself after the tiler. Italian quality tiles, calibrated, I bought as a special batch for 9€/sqm, floor tiles likewise. Beige/brown. The tiler charged 1500€ per bathroom for laying.

So about 3000€ paid per bathroom.

I think you can’t do it yourself for that.

But you can tile over the old tiles. Simply apply special bonding primer on the old tiles and then glue the tiles on. Cross and line lasers are available for little money. Tile wedges, tile adhesive and grout, silicone etc. are also all available. Trial makes wise, and what you can’t do, you can learn.
