Somewhere you have to save, and flooring usually comes in last - so the argument is somewhat flawed...

In the end, we also decided against (high-quality) parquet and for (high-quality) vinyl - but it was not a 2,000 euro difference, rather over 5,000 euros...

If you have to save at the end, you miscalculated at the beginning or stretched the budget more and more over time. It's a shame, really . 5,000€ difference is quite significant!

Both - I don't regret it, I got enough for it anyway. And an architect-designed house never ends up at +-0 - unless you work with large buffers (which then also was not a good calculation).

And in the end, it is maybe 5-10,000 euros in additional costs that were miscalculated (in our case) - measured against the total budget, a joke of an overrun. Therefore, this statement must also be taken with caution...

That may be true, that the overrun is manageable in relation to the budget. However, someone has to pay for this overrun. When the financing or equity/reserves are exhausted, it becomes a problem. My post referred to these cases. Unfortunately, this is how it looks for many families. Buying from a developer, financing based on a fixed price or tightly budgeted, and then it becomes tight later. With architect-designed houses involving tenders and the process of the "house becoming," it's somewhat different... Here, the amounts of money involved and the creditworthiness behind them are often significantly better than with townhouse builders. In our area, we have "dream houses" standing for families who could realize their dream of a house starting from €120,000 (including land!!!). That’s when 5,000 euros really hurts.

Find the argument difficult... sure, it may only be 2000 € that you save... just like with nicer sanitary objects, the fancy front door, the staircase, the electrical system, etc.... in the end, that quickly adds up to 20k €. After some time in the house, many things blur together and it is even questionable whether you still perceive the difference positively... unless you specifically think about this or that detail.

: That's exactly how it is - we also thought a lot about it, but in the end decided on plastic to have a bit of money left for the paving. We also got the typical builder's disease halfway through, where we ended up doing a few things more expensively than originally planned. Also because you simply don't think too much about some things beforehand (that's why I find those initial selection marathons very tricky). At least with Archihaus everything is maximally transparent and in the end, it's your own fault if you run out of money. Although that can happen very quickly...

The good thing: it will now be installed as a floating floor, so a simple replacement later on will be no problem.
