I have in my building description that the material price is 28 euros / sqm. That means I can choose tiles up to that price and the developer will install them for me? What if I stay below the price? I have recently looked at the hardware stores. There I can already get tiles for 5 euros / sqm. The 28 euros seems quite high to me?! Or do I have to include the tiler in the developer's cost?

Yes, that means you can choose tiles at this price per square meter. If you come in under that, it should actually be settled, or maybe you can have a larger area tiled?

You shouldn’t go by hardware store prices; the tiles usually have a lower quality. Take a look at a proper tile dealer, there you will see that you can just about make the price depending on your requirements.

You don’t have to include the tiler. Your builder has his own company. But if you think you can get a better price, for example if you have someone in the family, then you can also have that removed from the builder’s services.

The €28 is probably the pure tile price.

Of course, there are tiles for €5/m2.
However, you have to be careful in our hardware stores.
Sometimes the m2 prices are listed, other times the price per tile. A single tile can also cost over €5.

If you also want a border, the price can quickly add up.
I think €28 is a good estimate, but you probably won’t get below €25.

Hello,

thanks for the info.

I just have a good example: my uncle completely retiled his bathroom himself.
On the floor, he used granite tiles costing about 50 euros / sqm ^^

and on the wall, nice white tiles with a dark blue shimmer that I really liked and that also looked good in quality, they only cost 8 euros / sqm.

But I guess I will probably pay more attention to quality so that they have a high abrasion class? (is that how it’s called?)

Yes means something like that. But you only have abrasion on the floor anyway, less on the wall

Does anyone know where you can still get tiles that are good and inexpensive? In which specialist store? And what should you pay attention to when buying tiles?
