Hello, I have rented a house from the 60s and am currently making a breakthrough between the kitchen, where the chimney is in the corner, and the living room. The lintel is located just before the fireplace in the wall (living room wall = the same wall that the fireplace is on). While working it out, I accidentally cut through a non-insulated copper pipe about 8-10 mm in outer diameter and about 3 mm inner diameter, running from the ceiling evidently down past the floor into the basement, about 2 cm next to the fireplace in the wall. Now my question is, does this have anything to do with the fireplace, do I need to worry about this concerning the oil heating, or what could it have been used for? I cannot assign where it comes from and where it goes. Everything works as before. Thank you in advance for the collective knowledge.
