The shower drain was installed incorrectly - tolerate it or not?

So without knowing if this really works technically, I just had the idea whether one could powder coat the gutter (or at least the removable part) in a color matching the tiles and thereby possibly make it less conspicuous!?

I think in the end a dismantling and modification would be disproportionate, since it would be elaborate and possibly risky if you only try to fix it like that. More would have to be done then.

Please? That is just so ridiculously ridiculous.....500 euros for this prime botched job? No way, better have it dismantled with all consequences and personally stand next to it insisting on proper execution!

For 500€ I would definitely not accept it either.

Fingers crossed for the discussions, but I would insist on a correction there.

Best regards

According to DIN EN 1253, a required backwater height of 20mm above the channel grate is required to achieve the resulting maximum flow rate without water flowing into adjacent bathroom and living areas.

Here, the water always accumulates at the edge of the wall as well.

If the joint fails sooner or later, after 5-7 years, you can then dry the damage below or next door with the nice 500 € bill...

For us, the distance is about 10 cm to the wall, with a slope towards the channel.

The tricky part is that the screed underneath has to be patched if the channel is relocated.

So if I am not completely mistaken, there are also shower channels that can be installed completely against the wall. However, these then have appropriate seals all around, so that it does not depend on the joint but is properly sealed behind the tile through the shower channel.

Whether 500€ is sufficient or not, the OP has to decide for themselves. However, a dismantling and correction will likely only be possible, if this shower channel allows this installation variant, with the cooperation of the installer. There is also the word proportionality, and I suspect that legally this would not be acknowledged here. Even if it may sometimes be incomprehensible.

I am also less bothered by the appearance. I would accept that for a certain amount, but definitely not for 500 euros.

Technically, from my point of view, it is botched work; sooner or later, the water will seep through the tile grout, as Otus already mentioned. Therefore, get rid of it. I assume there is no underfloor heating anyway, so the screed situation is not a big deal. The patched area will be impregnated and that’s that. For a competent tiler, this is not an "unacceptable" effort.
