Hello, our development plan states that a carport must maintain a clear distance of 3m from the street line. How exactly is this to be understood? I wanted to start the carport directly at the property boundary, but for the first 3 meters I would leave the carport completely open, meaning only the roof, no side walls. This way, the view of a driver would not be restricted in any way. Can someone tell me if such a clear distance of 3 meters is maintained in this case? I mean, without side walls it is very open :-)

What is not to understand about a 3m distance.

A roof of a carport is part of a carport and 3m is 3m.

What about neighbors' carports and garages?

It is not always the drivers who are to blame for the rules of the development plan.

I already know what a distance of 3m means. But I was referring to the term "clear distance." Maybe that means you are only not allowed to completely enclose the first 3m, for example with walls, so that it doesn't become non-transparent. I can't say anything about other carports and garages, as our new development area is just being developed. We haven't even built our house yet, but of course I am already considering and planning, including the outdoor facilities.

3m distance.... applies to every component. The posts and even the roof.

3m towards the street there is almost always a building ban for nearly everything. a carport may therefore start 3 meters from the street. but you can't even park a car on the 3 meters....
