Hi forum,
we are currently busy planning our terrace and are still a bit undecided.
It will have an area of 20sqm and should definitely be covered.
We are now considering what would be best... the roof frame made of aluminum, powder-coated steel, or wood?
Glass roof or plastic?
The floor will probably be a WPC decking floor.
Why did you choose your material?
What are the advantages and disadvantages?
How did you ultimately design the terrace?
Maybe you have some pictures to get some inspiration.
Best regards, David

Post a photo of your garden side... without house types, it is difficult to address the question

Hi. A garden is not yet visible. Why did you prefer which material? I am currently leaning more towards the wooden roof construction because it would be unbeatable in terms of price, but then with laminated wood.

We are currently assembling the aluminum canopy, anthracite coated. With 8mm VSG roof covering. In about 2 weeks, glass sliding doors will follow. So basically a cold winter garden. 5x4 meters, so 20sqm.

Advantage:
Extends the season enormously. When the sliding doors are closed, you are protected from wind and weather. With a gas heater, it is also bearable in winter.
Aluminum does not rot. Glass neither. So probably a long lifespan.

Disadvantage:
A lot of glass to clean. However, you can walk on the roof, I think you should do that twice a year.

Awnings are planned for later, but for now a sun sail will suffice.

: Sounds interesting. Could you upload a picture when you have the chance?

I currently have a conservatory. Without external sun protection, the thing is unusable. Even at this time of year, every sunbeam burns. So please consider this from the start, otherwise "the season" will only take place under overcast skies. In summer, the thing is more or less an oven anyway; sun protection doesn't help much anymore. Nowadays, people install fans to move the air – that would also be smart. A gas patio heater in a (nearly) closed room was hopefully a joke.
