I am planning a Swedish stove for our dream house and have a few questions on the topic. I have read that a switch must be installed on the window so that the extractor hood can only be turned on when it is open. Is that correct? Does it matter for the extractor hood whether it is exhaust air or recirculation? Is the switch already connected to the window upon delivery or do I have to do it myself, drill holes, lay cables, etc.?

In very densely built new houses, this can (theoretically) become problematic if the extractor hood draws air out and no air flows in, e.g. through open windows. In this regard, it is best to ask the manufacturer or seller of the device. You have to install the extractor hood yourself or, better said, have it installed by an electrician. However, such a switch will not be included in the scope of delivery of the extractor hood.

Hello,

So I have also built such a Swedish stove once. The switch was not included and I had to order it separately. This switch must be installed near the window. The purpose is that no negative pressure may occur and thus no toxic gases enter the room. This window contact switch may only be operated when the window is open.

Hi,

I am also considering a Swedish stove. But when I read it like this, I'd rather not. I now just have to look for alternatives.

I also have such a Swedish stove and I also reordered this switch. However, that was not a problem and the delivery arrived within 3 working days.

If I understand this correctly, then such a switch is required in a densely populated area, right?

So in a detached single-family house, that is not necessary. That is good to know, because we will also be getting such a [Schwedenofen].
