Sun protection for slanted gable windows

Well, personal experience, I worked until a few years ago as an engineer at the market leader of such products, so I think you can call that some experience :). I fully understand you and would probably want to do it the way you do... Nevertheless, out of reason I would quite certainly prefer a similarly good-looking and less problematic solution. I have a nice example from the model home park near us, the house looks really good and I think the venetian blind solution doesn’t negatively attract anyone’s attention in practice: And for the upper glazing there would certainly be nice and inconspicuous interior shades or even darkening options for your children’s rooms (direct sunlight will likely be very limited here, as was already suspected).

That looks very interesting! Thanks! How large is the roof overhang on the model home? And where is it located? It looks great! How are the venetian blinds implemented there? That would probably also be a feasible option for us.

This is the new show house of Regnauer in Fellbach, called Klara. Just surf over to their homepage, there you will find the house and also several others built in a similar style (of the windows). You can also see older show houses from them with slanted roller shutters like you actually want; now one might think they may have intentionally moved away from the slanted version in the new houses ;).

I don't know the roof overhang. How were the roller shutters solved? Zoom into the picture, there you can see the guide rails running vertically into the horizontal cover. No magic at all and easy to plan and install. And the look, in my opinion, is great! (The whole house really turned out beautiful, although I'm not really a wood fan myself.)
In your case, the beam is just narrower, but surely a solution can be found together with the window manufacturer.

I just remembered that back then I had the plans from Regnauer Haus shown to me and just in case, I also took photos of them :p. Although the roof overhang is not directly visible here, the depth of the balcony is measured at 1.25m, and if you look at the picture from the outside again, that should roughly be the roof overhang… :cool:

Also a lot of wood, but it turned out to be a great house as well! The bathroom blew me away back then, great tiles that must have affected me on a subconscious level, because months later we chose tiles in a tile exhibition that, as we later found out, are exactly the tiles from this model house :D. (By the way, there is also a YouTube video from the Hausbau Helden about this model house.)

A quick off-topic detour, but the architecture and the roller shutter solution are quite similar to the Regnauer house :).
