I have looked at these awnings, but I think that because of the east orientation, they still let in too much sun from the side. For south-facing windows, they are certainly a good choice, but we only have east and west windows. I also find them stylish, but they probably wouldn’t visually fit well with our miner’s semi-detached house. Our house is designed quite simply and clearly.

Too bad. If the sun comes that much from the side, a single shading element positioned orthogonally to the house wall would be enough. Let light in, block sun. Like a window shutter opened only 90 degrees halfway. But that probably looks strange too. That is wonderfully put! I also feel described.

Yes, but why do we build like this?!
You hardly have a choice...

Is it more ecological to shut down a nuclear power plant in order to cover forests and meadows with tens of thousands of wind turbines?! Just one example among many, but that's not the topic here.

because it is so modern to have an open glazed south-facing facade. Some only realize that it simultaneously functions as a greenhouse when living in it. The upgrade, to accommodate a 12m facade, 16m glass front through a glazed bay window, we have already seen here as well

Fortunately, we have an old building without much window area and also without south-facing windows. But with the summers of recent years, even in such houses you go crazy.

I don't know if you mean having to cut and trim the film yourself like with a smartphone... But if a professional company does it with the appropriate quality film, then you can't even visually tell that there is a film applied, and it lasts for several years. Of course, there is also film integrated directly into the glass, but that then costs accordingly.
