Staircase "protrudes" into hallway: Problematic?

The doors are appropriately matched to the floor plan – that works fine. For example, we had the choice between 2.01 or 2.13 m interior doors. We then chose the larger ones.

I would suggest asking the company/architect how the stair exit is planned, i.e. whether there will be a gallery-rail stump there.

The staircase also doesn’t look like a “big hole” you could fall into when walking along the top. I think with a straight staircase I would be more concerned about walking uncertainly past the stair exit, for example on the way to the bathroom, than with this nice landing staircase. Without moving walls or shortening the stairs, there’s little you can do about it.

What we are also currently considering is making a small 10 cm wall stub to the left and right of the staircase exit. This would visually "conceal" the hole for the stairs in the hallway. However, we are not sure if this would still be visually appealing.

I had already thought about that too. But then you could also move the walls of the adjacent rooms. However, the door in the bathroom might then become smaller as well. Often with small children, there are stair gates which are attached on the left and right at the stair exit. I would aim to ensure that this is possible.

Thank you for the tip regarding the handrail. If we leave it as currently planned, this might be a good option. However, we are still undecided whether to make some structural changes – for example, reducing the step width as you suggested.

I totally agree with you ... I now find doors of only 2m old-fashioned ... but only since I have 2.11.

We were told in the stair studio that the calculation is done from the top. So it is adjusted at the top, then going down it can happen that the first step might protrude a bit... but having it protrude at the top also seems impractical and visually unappealing to me!
