Thank you very much for the experience report! We plan to install a 7 kW air conditioner with a wall unit at the highest point of our KfW55 house. Since the house is designed quite openly, we want to place the unit as centrally as possible in order to reach as many rooms as possible. The installation is planned on the north side, so that the cool air is blown towards the south side. We are optimistic that the cooling capacity will be sufficient to comfortably regulate the temperature of the entire house.

When operating 24/7, the system easily manages 22-24 degrees, of course not when cooling down to 20 degrees in 2 hours.

Have you gained any experience with that? Is a central position of the split system absolutely necessary, or can it be installed, for example, in the utility room?

above, on a non-south wall, the cold air is throughout the whole house. A balcony power plant or a photovoltaic system directly reduces operating costs

The utility room is the warmest room in our house,
heating, freezer, photovoltaic system, washing machine, and dryer.
When the air conditioning is running, the door is closed.

That will not work. The distribution is not that good with a normal controlled residential ventilation system. If it were stronger, it would blow in even more warm air. Install a multi-split air conditioner. This way you can cool targeted points, e.g. bedroom and living room. Whether 7KW cooling capacity is sufficient naturally depends on the house. But it will already provide considerable relief for a normally sized house. We have a central cooling system for our controlled residential ventilation and also split units. Our controlled residential ventilation is designed significantly larger than usual.
