So I don't terrorize anyone with my heat pump.

Exactly.

It is indeed interesting that there are a few advocates of outdoor installation who think neighbors shouldn’t make a fuss if such a unit is placed a few meters next to their terrace. I will repeat my question: Why then are these units installed as far away as possible from one’s own terrace, like in our case, on the other side of the house?

I inquired at Viessmann (manufacturer): They recommend, if possible, relocating it. How much does something like that cost? Does anyone happen to know?

Our construction manager sees it the same way.

If that doesn’t work: Does anyone know other ways to keep the unit quiet? The development plan allows a maximum fence height of 1.10 m, but the boundary in question is hardly visible to third parties, and I don’t think, for example, that 1.60 m or something like that would cause problems...

1) Legally, something might be possible. See the first posts. Have you checked if it might actually be outside the TA noise values for you? Have you used the calculator?

2) Relocating depends on where to. Possibly new lines need to be laid, etc. Costs therefore depend on the effort. But I would estimate 500-1000€

3) Google for example "soundproof heat pump enclosure Z-Wave, -7 dB* Costs are apparently around 1K-2K€. Your neighbor should deal with that.

*shake head* How big is the hut supposed to be if:

What could of course also be the case is that the device is simply *too loud*; so to speak, operating outside the spec. There are quite a few reports that after setting up / some time in operation this happens / can happen. The only help then is to measure and contact the manufacturer's service.

Has anyone actually measured the volume?
