seat88's statement is to be understood in the sense that one can also teach one's children mutual consideration and quiet times. When working from home, one usually works while the children are in daycare/school during the day, so noise pollution should actually be excluded.

Everything is subjective, but at the end of the day, soundproof doors in private residential construction (in my opinion) are rather the exception than the rule, so it seems to work without them. As said, it can't hurt if a child learns early on that their personal freedom ends where it restricts the freedom of another. So, for example, child 1 playing loud music vs. child 2 doing homework. Yes, of course, they learn that later too, at the latest when they move out of the house and the noise-plagued flatmate kicks down the undamped room door...

Home office is not only for times when children are cared for outside the home. For example, I can reach many only late in the evening or early in the morning. And Steffen80 has built according to the principle that for every problem there is a technical solution. Why not? That does not mean that children are not raised to be considerate.

I don't have an 8h (from 8 to 4 pm) home office. With that mindset, I would be an average earner.

...Average earners who would have more time for their children instead of hiding behind a soundproof door? We don't need to continue at this level, it doesn't help anyone. In this sense. All done right.

Why? Maybe he is also more flexible time-wise and therefore has more usable time (in modern terms, quality time). I can understand that. It doesn't hurt to have a more soundproof door. You can also open it or leave it open if desired. If you want peace and quiet, just close it. It also became clear that he wants his children to have it better than he did. I'm sure he doesn't mainly mean material things. For example, traveling is enormously educational and you develop an understanding of other cultures. Possibly better education, better security in case of illness, etc.

Uh, there are many in the home office area who take advantage of the flexibility for children. I can no longer reach all my family men in the European abroad. Also, many in the field service only get back to me around 9 pm or tomorrow morning before the dear little ones get up.
