Hello,
we are currently considering how to orient our house on our property and to what extent this conflicts with the installation of solar/photovoltaic modules.
Our property measures 17x45m, with the short sides facing east and west. We plan to place our house at the front near the street, so that we still have about 17x30m for the garden behind it. This would mean that the roofs are oriented towards the east and west, which is of course not ideal for solar/photovoltaic modules. However, we are building a captain’s house (possibly with an additional dormer on the back). This would give us one or two small roof surfaces oriented to the south.
Now the question is: under these conditions, is it feasible to install a solar thermal or photovoltaic system on the roof? Is the west-facing roof okay, or alternatively, are the small south-facing roof surfaces large enough?
