Hello.

While inspecting shell construction sites recently, I noticed this construction shown in the attached pictures.

A slanting, approximately 20cm wide recess was provided in the floor slab, which goes up to the filigree ceiling.

Of course, it is not my construction project, and theoretically it’s none of my business, but I would still be interested to know if anyone has seen this before, and what kind of shower construction requires such a structure, in case I ever need it myself.....

The screed has not yet been installed, only the filigree ceiling and the concrete above it, the interior and exterior walls are built.

Regards and thanks!

I mean, it looked similar for us too, just straight. The water drainage has to go somewhere, depending on where the drain is located and also with a slight slope. For us, the drain is centered in the floor-level shower tray.

I know it this way, that there is no recess in the concrete except somewhere in the corner for the drain pipe.

So far, I have only seen the preparation with a 50mm HT pipe within the screed.

I have my doubts whether it is okay to see the reinforcement. It also looks more like an intermediate ceiling than a floor slab to me. In the floor slab, ideally a KG pipe is laid in the right place directly beneath the floor slab. In the upper floor, this was installed by the tiler in the sloped screed for us.

I assumed that, since the first post also mentions a filigree ceiling.

Where should the problem be if you see the reinforcement, but it is intact? At the moment, no one knows whether this was planned that way, meaning whether the mats were cut and laid accordingly or if the concrete worker did it on his own initiative. Basically, a cutout in the reinforced concrete ceiling is possible; otherwise, there would be no stairs...
