Size of courtyard entrance and planting strip as a visual barrier?

Hello everyone,

we are currently planning our driveway and I would be interested to know what you think about the size and the planting strip, which is later supposed to serve as a privacy screen from the street (in the plan at the bottom right) towards the terrace.
The red marking can be ignored for now (access to the basement entrance).

Would you put the planting strip directly next to the driveway and the fence (approx. 1m double rod because of the dog) behind it, or the fence outside on the pavement and the planting strip then inside the garden? What would be suitable as planting here?

Greetings and thanks
Hannes

Spontaneously, I wouldn’t have artificially narrowed the driveway. It is big enough anyway.

What are your requirements for the hedge/privacy screen?

But 3.5m should be enough for the driveway?! It doesn't have to allow two cars to pass side by side.

The hedge/privacy screen should shield from the street

I would probably have extended the planting strip straight to the front. 3.5m driveway width is completely sufficient. The other bend can stay. I would have made the fence as shown in the picture. A door could be installed in the bend for direct access to the garden.

No, but when a bicycle, tricycle is standing or friends park, it simply gets tight. I would never have placed the garage that far back. Should the hedge be evergreen, may or should it bloom? Edible, bird protection, alternative, able to withstand heat and drought

Definitely a thuja!

Is the secret favorite plant here in the forum and will soon be included in the unofficial forum emblem. ;)
