Hello everyone,

we have purchased a condominium in a new building. During the second acceptance, we noticed a plank in the parquet floor that looks somehow different. It is much darker than the rest of the floor. In addition, the entire surface is smooth (like polished) and the one plank is rough.
Does anyone know what this could be due to? Is there anything that can be done about it without replacing the plank? What would otherwise be the justified steps for the builder to rectify it?
In the report, we recorded the point as follows: Living room floor has a rough surface.

Attached is a picture - I hope it is recognizable.

I hope you can help us a little.
Thank you in advance.

In the picture, I can only recognize that the parquet is laid in a strange pattern. The wood itself is a restless sorting with light and dark spots. If you had only posted the picture, I would not have known that there is a "defect" there. Even with the explanation, I do not find it, since everything is a very restless sorting (which does not look bad). Based on the picture, I would say: There is no defect.

Then attached again a picture from further away. The plank is clearly darker than the rest. There also remains the different texture from smooth to rough.

Wait a year then you won't see any of that anymore.

It is probably an effect attributable to the natural raw material, whereby the different surface could also indicate that this plank has become somewhat damp (wood fibers have stood up).

What I find more disturbing is the laying pattern, especially since it looks as if the connections of the planks in adjacent rows are exactly at the same spot. That should normally, as far as I know, be avoided. So the offset is actually missing, isn't it?

But if it is rougher, maybe it was really treated differently. Perhaps one is lacquered and the others oiled, or vice versa. Or one was replaced afterwards due to actual damage and not treated at all.

Did you receive a construction (performance) description and how was the parquet supposed to be finished in the end?

By the way, I find the strip with parquet quite narrow. How wide is it? Couldn't it have just been tiled?
