First of all, regarding the "advice" to have the parquet inspected by an expert: Experts do not work and live on "air and love". Especially in old age, aspect No. 2 applies twice (joke). Seriously, the costs incurred for an inspection will clearly exceed the benefit. Therefore: drop the idea of the expert. The hourly rate currently ranges from €90.007h to €125.00/hour. Plus travel expenses, of course. The cheaper and at the same time more effective solution is to get some fine sandpaper at the hardware store and carefully sand the surface of the affected parquet blocks. This will certainly remove the unwanted appearance, even if the upper wood fibers were "smoked" by alkali. A can of clear varnish should also be taken along when visiting the hardware store. The unaffected parquet is covered and protected with paper or cardboard, the dust-free surface was freed from dust after sanding with a damp sponge. After the spot dries, the wood fibers raised by moisture contact are briefly sanded again. Then spray the 2 or 3 parquet blocks thinly several times in only short (!) spray bursts. Better to do it several times, but always apply very little varnish and let it dry afterward. Motto: VIEL hilft nicht viel, sondern schadet ganz sicher eher dem Ergebnis. -------------------------- Good luck: KlaRa
