How much do you pay the architect? According to HOAI or individual offer?

Thank you all for the lively discussion and many responses. Overall, I see that the floor plan is good and does not have any major weaknesses that we might have overlooked. A few points mentioned here were either consciously decided and desired by us (e.g., spacious hallway) or we had already adjusted (kitchen island and no peninsula). Regarding the exterior view, the idea was exactly to gather opinions and, as some did, ideas on what could be done better. It is not our goal that the forum now does the architect's job here. We also have a very good relationship with her and we are very confident that we can create a more harmonious exterior design with her. But since we were not entirely sure what really bothered us, we thought we would use the general public to better assess our impression and also to be able to work on it more purposefully. I think that has already helped us a lot. We will continue to refine it with the architect.

The "tragic" thing is that it is necessary to ask the forum... because actually it would be the architect's task to design the facade corresponding to 1 million EUR

Do you have any restrictions for the roof? Based on that, I would start structuring the windows.

Laying out windows on facades is not rocket science: 1a. Dimensioning; 1b. Formatting; 2. Setting frames roughly where they should go; 3. Shut up the little man in the ear who babbles about symmetry; 4. Compare with windows of corresponding floors. Done! (and it didn’t hurt at all).

To me, a peninsula looks like "didn’t work any other way".

An island mainly needs two mountains with lots of tunnels and tracks for railway traffic so that Jim and Lukas don’t stand around dumb :)
