Our bathroom planning is done for the most part, now we just need to know if we are allowed to install the electric towel radiator wherever we want. I have attached a plan. The shower should consist of a tiled element measuring 100x120. This goes up to the opening of the niche. We would prefer to do without a glass door; if one is necessary in order to install the radiator there, then we'll just have one. From the actual shower to the wall where the radiator is supposed to go, there would be 70 cm. The shower fittings will be installed on the narrow wall opposite. The dimensions of the protection zone are known, but the question is what counts here as the shower area. The entire niche measuring 100x190 or just the element 100x120?

Hello Manu,
so whether you are allowed or not, I unfortunately cannot answer you.
But depending on the type of shower head, your towels will get wet at the bottom when you shower.

Best regards
Jochen

Yes, we have already thought about that too. But from the showerhead to the towel radiator it’s almost 2 meters. At the moment we have a shower of 1x1.2m and for me the wall opposite the showerhead is actually almost never wet/splattered. But we will have to see when the time comes. In case of emergency, a glass folding door will be installed afterwards - provided the radiator or the socket is even allowed to be placed there.

Hello,

This position of the towel holder, but especially the idea of a glass door at the end of the privacy panel, does not make sense to me at all. Although I am not an electrician, I am quite sure that a socket is not allowed to be installed on the wall in front of the head.

In my opinion, an "open" shower loses its purpose if you want to close it anyway. Then you could have saved the wall in front of the shower and built an original shower. You will surely find a better place for the towel radiator in the bathroom; in my view, the spot where the little cabinet is currently drawn. This way, the distance from the shower head to the drying area is as short as possible.

Rhenish greetings

Yes, we actually don't like glass doors at all, also because of the cleaning (very hard water).

Here is an overall view of the bathroom. We would of course still have some alternative options for the radiator, although I need space for at least 2 cabinets. Originally, a T-wall was planned, but that doesn't work at all with the electrical setup.

Hello Manu,

we once had a towel radiator in a hotel (though in Austria, so no indication whether allowed or not) exactly in this spot in the shower, which was also around 2 m deep. The lower end of the towel warmer and the cable outlet were wet after every shower – so I would rather advise against this position.

I find the place where the two cabinets are currently drawn in the best spot – also from the heat emission perspective this position is better, as the heat radiates into the whole bathroom and not just the shower. How about half-height cabinets with a towel radiator above them?

Alternatively, I could also imagine moving the toilet a bit towards the outer wall and placing the towel radiator on the "short" shower wall.

One completely different thing – don’t you find the passage to the shower with 70 cm (which you would further restrict by the radiator) too narrow? That could already be challenging with crutches, not to mention a walker in old age...

Regards,

Dirk
