Shower cabin with hinged or sliding doors?

Hello,
I want to renovate a bathroom.
The bathtub in my rental apartment is worn out after 40 years. Instead of the tub (Badezimmer alt.png), I would like to install a shower.
The bathroom is not very large, see Badezimmer Skizze Teil 2.pdf. Therefore, I have looked at 90x90 cm quarter-circle shower cabins.
Based on the space, I came to sliding doors. However, these are apparently even more difficult to clean than hinged doors. With hinged doors, I am not quite sure if there is enough space without getting in the way of the toilet.
Does anyone have experience whether clear glass or frosted panels look well-maintained for longer?
I look forward to information and tips.

Besides, I find inward-opening hinged doors very annoying because it usually means quite a bit of squeezing out...

Because of the size of the bathroom, you are of course very limited. I would put a glass wall next to the toilet, nothing more. That way you would have a walk-in shower, just as Jaydee also suggests. However, 70cm is not much for showering, especially since the faucet is also hanging there, which you would probably bump into all the time... 2nd alternative: use the 90cm next to the door and put a 1-meter glass wall there that can be folded in so you can also enter it. However, the shower faucet would have to be moved... don’t know if that’s possible for you because of the rent... In my opinion, that would be the most elegant solution. For the look, I would use clear glass or slightly tinted glass so the room still appears spacious. Frosted glass or glass with a drop design is probably more resistant if it’s not cleaned sometimes, but then it would also be an obvious partition in the small room. However, all this would look really nice with a walk-in (floor-level) shower. You will have a problem with that (you can’t just chisel up the floor for the wastewater pipes...) maybe possibly make a platform on the whole right side? Those would be my suggestions now. Who will do it or pay for it? If a professional company paid for by the landlord is involved, I would go to a bathroom consultant where the sanitary fixtures are also purchased. They very often deal with such small bathrooms. Google also offers a lot under "bathroom floor plan." I once came across a site that showed many bathroom oases (including small bathrooms).

No, the shower does not have to be level with the floor. There are also very shallow trays. If you take a 2-part door, you can open and close it both inward and outward.

??? There are doors that are also swing doors. You can open them both inward and outward.

My parents have such doors and it is really nicer if you can also open them inward. Then nothing drips all over.

I should probably have written "only inward"...

hello,

I cannot recommend sliding doors to you at all! We have some, and they keep coming off the tracks or are very difficult to slide - and they weren’t even that cheap - so I would advise against them.

Regards Diane
