Hello everyone,

the shell construction will start soon and I would like to gather community experience/feedback, however you want to call it.
Initial situation:
The garage is connected to the single-family house (urban villa) (plans are attached next to each other) and the wall construction would be as follows.
House made of KS+WDVS (24+16cm)
Garage in aerated concrete (24cm)

To avoid having KS+WDVS+aerated concrete in the area between house and garage, my idea is to choose "only" 40cm aerated concrete there.

What would be your pros and cons?

You want to use the exterior wall of the house as a wall for the garage at the same time? Not a good idea. We saved on the brick wall in the area of the garage and instead directly built the KS garage wall there, but I don't see any further savings potential, especially since the house wall will regularly be higher than the garage wall, and the garage ceiling has to rest somewhere.

Why don’t you also build the garage out of KS? That probably saves 20 centimeters in width.

Does the thermal separation between house and garage extend down to the foundation slab? If yes, then there are actually 2 separated foundation slabs and consequently it will probably be structurally difficult to connect the 2 building bodies.

We have a very similar situation and have decided to keep everything separated.

That makes no sense, because it makes no sense.
(See "previous speaker").

Ask your planner what might be possible.
- same foundations?
- thermal separation?
- how is it supposed to work above the garage ceiling?
-…?

PS: I would also move into the garage, there is more space. :D

Is the garage and house being executed by the same contractor? Because if the garage is „in EL“, i.e. independent from the contractor, then there will be problems. Then there will actually be 2 independent building structures that would have to be sealed afterwards. „With or without“ plaster on the partition wall is then IMHO also not possible.

Consideration to build the garage in aerated concrete comes from the fact that it can be somewhat insulated compared to the cold KS without ETICS, hence the desire. The planner/structural engineer already indicated on the phone a certain kind that it will be difficult with the one stone and function for both building structures. The house is thermally separated from the garage down to the floor slab. The shell builder is supposed to build both objects and no later “slap-on”. I don’t find the house too small at all and, for example, I currently see in the family that 50m2 is not enough and two proper wooden sheds were placed in the garden. I prefer to save that and OVERSIZE the garage right away. ;-)
