We decided against niches because I think they are difficult to clean. We now have metal baskets, which I can also remove and wash. So far, they have not rusted.

Due to my 11.5 cm wall towards the rear guest toilet, a niche was unfortunately not an option for us. However, we also did not want a metal basket and decided on this solution. Unfortunately, it is not completely finished yet. It still needs to be sealed with silicone and cleaned.

Do you mean in the first picture? Yes, there was a sloping roof there. Behind the shower was a niche where our shelf for towels stood, and behind that you could also hide the squeegee and laundry baskets.
