Hello,
I bought a condominium last year that is currently under construction through a developer, and in a few weeks the selection of materials will take place. The apartment is initially going to be rented out.
Attached is also the plan of the bathroom. According to the building specifications, I am allowed to choose tiles up to €60 including VAT, and about 60% of the wall area in the bathroom may be covered with tiles. Otherwise, I would have to pay an extra charge. However, I have no idea how large the tiles should be, how high they should be laid, or in which tile pattern they should be placed. I would appreciate any advice. Unfortunately, all the stores are currently closed, so I can’t get any inspiration there.
At the moment, I am planning dark floor tiles and light (cream/beige) wall tiles (both ceramic) in sizes 30x60 cm or 30x90 cm. The tiled area should be about 1.20 m high, whereby the left long wall (4.12 m) does not have to be tiled at all except for the skirting board. The shower area should of course be tiled all the way up. For the area of the washing machine and dryer, I don’t know if it makes sense to tile all the way up there. What do you think?
Which tile size would you choose for the walls in this elongated room? Stretcher bond? Third bond?
What size for the floor tiles? Would it be better if the floor tiles (if rectangular) were laid crosswise, or must they always be laid parallel to the wall tiles?
The hallway and the storage room are also going to be tiled. Maybe there’s something to consider there as well.
Thanks in advance.
I hope it is allowed if I post a section of the plan here. There is no information about the creator in the section.
Best regards
Robert
