round shelf as an end for the kitchen unit

Hello everyone,

we would like to expand our kitchen by adding an approximately 2m long work surface with base cabinets, which should have a rounded corner at one end, something like this:

... just with one rounded corner.

Now I have seen that you can have the countertop cut accordingly at Ikea, but I can’t find any solutions on how to use/fill the space under the rounding. A rectangular cabinet would of course protrude. For example, I would have liked an open shelf, also with rounded shelves.

Does anyone perhaps have a good tip?

Your request should actually be feasible. Place a closed cabinet up to the corner and then I would install half-round shelves. Ideally made from the same material as the countertop. They should be easy to attach with small brackets.

Hello, For METOD there is no ready-made solution. That means you have to make it yourself or have it made by a carpenter. Attaching boards with brackets to the cabinet and wall is possible, but the brackets must not be too small to bear the load. The brackets would be visible, which I personally would not like.

@IKEA expert, you are of course right, it depends on how you want to use the shelves. If something heavy is going in there, small brackets won't hold.

Thank you very much for the answers. It will probably be a straight finish after all. Everything else is too expensive/complex for me. It's a shame that there is nothing like that for Metod.
