Room Thermostats Heating/Cooling

Hello,

we actually wanted to actively cool via the underfloor heating with our air-to-water heat pump, but unfortunately forgot to inform the electrician.

He said we would need room thermostats that allow switching between heating/cooling.

However, the plastering is already done, so the wiring cannot be changed. Therefore, we have too few wires for the thermostats with changeover switches.

Can you simply turn them fully on and set the heat pump to cooling? Or would you then not have condensation control on the floor?

Are there any other options?

Where is the cooling water supposed to come from? I hope you have taken that into account and have not fallen for empty seller babble.

He has a heat pump and it can both heat and cool. When cooling, cold air is blown over the outdoor unit instead of warm air.

Why the nonsense? From the beginning, we planned the air-to-water heat pump, I just later stumbled upon the possibility to also cool within a limited scope.

In principle, you would just have to invert the signal of the thermostats.

To my knowledge, reversible air-to-water heat pumps can cool by reversing the operating principle of the heat pump. That is, instead of extracting heat from the outside air and transporting it indoors, heat is extracted from the indoor air and released to the outside air. However, this has nothing to do with "blowing cold air through the outdoor unit instead of warm air." Where is the outdoor unit supposed to get cold air from in summer? :)

Exactly. An air conditioner is also a heat pump.
