Sound insulation calculations?

Hello KPS,

thank you very much for the response.
The aspect you mentioned regarding sound insulation has not been considered by us so far. OK, we also live in the countryside, so the external noise level is limited.

Is there a calculation basis for this, and how is it manifested concretely?

Hello,

Yes, summer thermal insulation is mostly treated as an afterthought.

Best regards.

Meaning?

Hello €uro,

what does that mean specifically? What do you mean by summer thermal protection?
I cannot derive any constructive insights from your comment!

€uro thinks imho that although in new buildings as a rule attention is paid to minimizing heat loss in the house, less attention is paid to the heating of the house in summer, but this is particularly important for prefab houses. Shading of the windows, suitable wall construction, problems in the attic due to condensation, etc.

Hello,

It was merely a hint on what one should also pay attention to! As 6Richtige writes, everyone cares about thermal protection in winter. The summer heating, especially in the attic, is often forgotten. The current verification procedure excludes opaque components on the outside.
The issue is particularly noteworthy with gable roofs and exposed sunny locations.
In 2008, I conducted measurements on a pitched roof (west). Temperatures above 60 degrees Celsius were measured above the insulation between the rafters. A significant "heating potential," considering the "heating surface."

Best regards.

Which option is better now

Hello €uro,

which insulation is better now to adequately address the issue of "SW"?

As a layperson, I would therefore choose external rafter insulation. The reason for this is that the so-called thermal bridges (rafters) no longer exist in summer. Or am I mistaken?
