Roller shutters up or down based on the current weather conditions

We always completely let down at the weather front. Hard to say if it withstands the wind load better than glass. But a branch in the blinds is preferable to me in case of doubt, from a cost and health perspective, rather than in the window glass. For the next category (tree) it would be the same anyway.

The two trees in my garden didn't care whether the blind was down or not, they still fell over ... :(

Well, now only a tall fir and a chestnut tree remain (which fortunately diverted the falling trees away from the house ....

Man oh man, it looks awful .... 6 m of fence also ruined.

Does the building insurance actually cover the removal of the trees?

I think so, including appropriate replacement plantings.

A blind should of course be raised, a roller shutter can be lowered.

Something like that is even free; if the insurance does not pay, you just have to do without the wood.

Well, show me someone who will leave the garden broom-clean after firewood and close the two huge holes from the roots again.....
