Good evening,

Of course, I assume that it will be a bigger construction site if it is to be an aesthetically pleasing solution - according to the OP's specifications. In this respect, it is logical that the lintels will have to be shifted.

However, I am not sure that the OP is aware of the consequences/costs of his wish for almost 100% darkening - excluding external roller shutters.

Rhenish greetings

I wonder why this was not considered when the house was built.

In our immediate neighborhood, a house without roller shutters was also built last year. Today, the residents hide behind heavy opaque curtains, even during the day. There was already a break-in at this house when they moved in. Why: They could see the boxes and furniture......

Have you already talked to your architect or BU about this?

It was already considered back then, but on the one hand, our architect said that it was not necessary/that in a new house pleated blinds or roller blinds are sufficient and due to the controlled residential ventilation and the insulation values, the house does not heat up as quickly or as intensely as in an old building (in our apartment it was especially bad), which led us to decide against the exterior roller shutters. Regarding darkening, we got roller blinds that are quite okay, but of course it’s better with exterior roller shutters and we would have solved the heat protection with them. The stuffy warm air is not really the problem, but rather that the floors, furniture, and walls heat up a lot from the sunlight through the window and accordingly emit heat. Additional ventilation before going to bed doesn’t help (especially not in the children’s room where bedtime starts around 7/8 pm).

Material costs for the exterior roller shutters are secondary, since my wife works in the building materials sector and we get good prices there.
Installation costs wouldn’t be much either, since it would be done as a DIY project...

My architect said, [Vorbaurollläden] and that’s it...
