Option 4: Change the woman
Option 5: Woman changes the man
There are practically endless possibilities to solve this problem with a stylish covering in the appropriate height. If you two can’t solve it otherwise, I would rather advise against further construction measures—
Whoever chooses it should also make sure it is properly laid and then fits, and in case of change also handles the resulting hassle.
Buy something beautiful in the right thickness and that’s that!
And yes... I regularly go shopping for building materials with my wife, even gladly! That sounds more like an interpersonal problem than a flooring issue.

Maybe you should go choosing with BOTH of them at the same time. They might agree faster than you would wish......and also on what they would agree on-

Well, if I had laid vinyl, the impulse would come pretty quickly *duckandrun* But well, a matter of taste.

For example, I assume we will tear up our parquet as soon as the kids are done. They’re working quite diligently on wearing down the floor.

When I recently saw the liquid cork in a thread here, I looked at my (quite young) tile floor and thought, man, that would have been something for you too ... with 4mm vinyl you simply don’t have any other options anymore.

However the decision turns out, there remains one question that probably doesn't warrant a new thread: Lay the flooring over the entire area and place the new kitchen on it? Or leave out the kitchen furniture and only lay the flooring up to the baseboard?
