or rather, it probably was done here back then. Googling what this staircase would cost new today would probably recalibrate the valuation.

In my opinion, producing a less valuable condition for expensive money is not "sanctified" by the fact that one prefers it better. A property is never just a dwelling; it is also creditworthiness.

In that respect, despite all sympathy for the diversity of tastes: in my opinion, this would be an investment in devaluation. However: whether that is stupid or original might once again be a matter of taste

And, as I said: the trend is coming back that a Kenngott staircase belongs in the house for the S-Class in front of the house

I am also more of a wood fan, but I would leave this staircase.

Find the staircase ultimately just seems a bit old-fashioned. Presumably, it would look different if the current steel railing including the plastic handrail were replaced. Ultimately, however, costs that I would put far back.

In a few years, when that becomes mega-hip again, then most "original". Or else in the combination of chrome / curved glass. But it costs like an entire staircase.

My first thought was also: Oh dear, why throw it away? We just spent a small fortune on a granite staircase.

With a new stainless steel railing (we still have curved glasses in it) and plain white walls, it looks completely different, I agree with the others.

The only thing that is too much here is the pattern of the wallpaper. If the wall color tone is a shade darker than the steps, everything can look very elegant. The wrought iron could be painted light.

How did you decide ?
