Recommendation Carport - Material / Provider?

Hello everyone,

we would like to build a carport adjacent to our house. The carport should have the dimensions 8.64x5.67 m - of which about 3x5.67 m should be a storage shed. We would like to attach the carport to the house wall and have already planned fastening timber for this purpose. Does anyone have recommendations on which material is best suited for the carport? Are there any recommended providers?

Look at your house and decide whether wood or aluminum! More specifically: if you have a red Swedish house or a log cabin, I recommend wood. If you have a modern house, possibly with anthracite-colored windows, then I would choose aluminum in your place.

How much do you want to spend?

With wood, you have to consider that it needs to be refinished every few years. But it looks great (in my opinion). One from a carpenter cannot be compared to one from the hardware store, hence the question about the budget.

(PS: Especially for modern white-anthracite-colored houses, I find wood a real treat for the eyes)

There are carport providers like sand by the sea. We will probably order ours from Prikker, as they are one of the affordable providers with tiled roofs. I always find wood very suitable for DIY projects and wood also matches almost every house, but I would avoid KDI if possible (toxic waste).

The house is planned with a single-color base plaster (white) and gray/anthracite windows. Depending on the remaining budget after handover, we will either clad the lower part of the house with wood or paint it with a second color (sand/beige something in that direction).

Is the choice of material purely an aesthetic decision? I have often read reviews about wood starting to mold. Therefore, I assume that aluminum is "more stable." Is that correct? Does aluminum have any disadvantages compared to wood? Aside from the aesthetic aspect. I suspect it will generally be more expensive, right?

We are considering connecting the porch roof directly to the carport. Ideally, a provider who installs/offers both carport and porch roof would be perfect. I assume that would only be possible with aluminum, right?

Aluminum is naturally more resistant to moisture, but it is also more expensive and not as suitable for DIY work. Although wood normally does not mold, a carport is well ventilated and the wood is glazed. Wood molds if you botch the construction. The posts must not stand in the ground, etc.

A special construction with a house roof can be made by any carpenter, although you have to expect significant surcharges for both wood and aluminum as soon as you want something other than the standard dimensions.
