Carport with large span without extra central post

Our carport also spans 7m x 6.4m. Made entirely of wood and without a central post on the long side. The beams are correspondingly hefty, but basically, a span >7m is not a problem. We had it made and installed by a "Holzbaufirma" (carpentry) in the area – if I were you, I would find out who could build something like that in your area.

Found some providers in the image search for "carport extra breit". Lippe Carports has pictures on the site. However, my favorite tip would be to go to the carpenter.

That's true as well: from an economic perspective, it is not feasible. A wooden carport is supposed to be simple to manufacture and assemble. Beyond a certain span, only specific types of wood and large beam thicknesses come into consideration, which are simply more expensive than a concrete or steel structure.

Take a look at the roofs of large sports halls or some supermarket chains – a 30m span is not uncommon, and wooden beams carry the load. It's all a question of dimensioning.
