Whoever spends 2000 euros on the hood will later pour coal into a filter housing themselves? And the cleaning lady will then clean up the dirt?


How often depends quite essentially on the usage.

Just because you spend a lot of money on some things doesn't mean you use a service for everything. I also have KNX and program the thing myself...
Berbel itself specifies 2-3 years (at least 350 operating hours), our kitchen installer said most change much later. But there are also 4kg of coal inside.

With Siemens hoods, there are two options. Either the filters are inside the hood itself, which apparently have to be replaced quite often, or you use the Clean Air module.

The charcoal filter there costs about 65 € and is said to last longer…

The grease is filtered by a metal filter, which you can simply clean in the dishwasher.

However, the problem of having to buy replacement filters will exist with every hood…

Well, I just quickly searched online, but the Berbel hoods seem to cost me 2-3 times as much as the Siemens hoods (surprisingly, Siemens is not the most expensive this time..!) With a price ratio of 800 to 2500 euros, I can buy many filters.

It’s like with printer cartridges, they always find a way to get their money!

Of course, it’s not just about the price of the filter or saving money with it. I was convinced by the principle of operation and, moreover, it was worth the money to us for our open kitchen. By the way, the market price for our Skyline is slightly higher, but that would have exceeded the pain threshold.
