Hello everyone.
My name is Ingo and I am 42 years young
And you can hardly believe it, I am putting together my very first kitchen. :D
Since I have trouble imagining things, I need some help.
That is also the reason why I shop at Ikea. I always wanted a kitchen with white fronts (high gloss). And at Ikea there are some on display and I could look at various setups.
In my case, a Karlby countertop (oak) will be installed.
Unfortunately, I am not much of a handyman, but assembling the Ikea cabinets is really super easy. And it is even fun. Probably because it works so well
Here is my plan for now:
The right side is already in place.
Regarding the assembly of the left row.
I want to do as much as possible myself. Except for connecting the stove and cutting the countertop.
I have a few questions about that.
1.
I only measured roughly with a tape measure. The left part of the kitchen is still there. I will dismantle it in the next 2-3 days. In my plan, I have allowed some clearance at the top end (at the side wall) and by the fridge and always have the option to slide things around (about 10cm leeway). Do I still need to have a professional take measurements? Or is this not absolutely necessary because I still have room to adjust?
2.
Should I use these wall strips? (On the right side I only installed 2 brackets). If yes, for the base cabinets and wall cabinets? And are the ones from Ikea recommended or are there possibly better ones? I am also a little afraid that the wall cabinets might fall down again. Are there special anchors I should use?
3.
I also have questions about the design. I thought about installing the following extractor hood and kitchen backsplash.
I actually wanted to take a black sink, black cooktop and a black extractor hood. But if I go with the green stuff, should I better skip the black items and install a white cooktop and sink instead? I don’t know if there would be too many colors in play with black then.
4.
Regarding the kitchen backsplash. Maybe some of you have something like this in your kitchen. Is there a big difference (visually) between a glass backsplash and an aluminum backsplash? Maybe someone can also recommend a cheap supplier. :)
I am looking forward to your answers.
Best regards
Ingo
