Hello everyone.
My name is Ingo and I am 42 years young
And you can hardly believe it, I am putting together my very first kitchen. :D
Since I have trouble imagining things, I need some help.
That is also the reason why I shop at Ikea. I always wanted a kitchen with white fronts (high gloss). And at Ikea there are some on display and I could look at various setups.
In my case, a Karlby countertop (oak) will be installed.

Unfortunately, I am not much of a handyman, but assembling the Ikea cabinets is really super easy. And it is even fun. Probably because it works so well

Here is my plan for now:

The right side is already in place.

Regarding the assembly of the left row.
I want to do as much as possible myself. Except for connecting the stove and cutting the countertop.

I have a few questions about that.

1.
I only measured roughly with a tape measure. The left part of the kitchen is still there. I will dismantle it in the next 2-3 days. In my plan, I have allowed some clearance at the top end (at the side wall) and by the fridge and always have the option to slide things around (about 10cm leeway). Do I still need to have a professional take measurements? Or is this not absolutely necessary because I still have room to adjust?
2.
Should I use these wall strips? (On the right side I only installed 2 brackets). If yes, for the base cabinets and wall cabinets? And are the ones from Ikea recommended or are there possibly better ones? I am also a little afraid that the wall cabinets might fall down again. Are there special anchors I should use?
3.
I also have questions about the design. I thought about installing the following extractor hood and kitchen backsplash.

I actually wanted to take a black sink, black cooktop and a black extractor hood. But if I go with the green stuff, should I better skip the black items and install a white cooktop and sink instead? I don’t know if there would be too many colors in play with black then.

4.
Regarding the kitchen backsplash. Maybe some of you have something like this in your kitchen. Is there a big difference (visually) between a glass backsplash and an aluminum backsplash? Maybe someone can also recommend a cheap supplier. :)

I am looking forward to your answers.
Best regards
Ingo

hello ingo,

regarding 3 4,
the extractor hood combined with the lime motif as a backsplash is a great eye catcher. I think it’s great.

regarding the white induction cooktops, I can’t say anything, they haven’t been around that long. whether there will be problems later with scratches that might be visible you have to google.

regards

1.) If you don’t have a “complicated” room with very odd angles, a tiled backsplash, protruding installations, etc., you don’t necessarily have to have it measured. However, I would consider having it measured in an empty room! Leaving space is always good, especially since you should keep in mind that the refrigerator still needs to be able to be opened. It is said that you should leave 15cm of space from the wall for this, but it can be less. Try it out! The cabinets shouldn’t stand directly against the wall either. The fronts align flush with the carcasses and would scrape against the wall.

2.) The wall rail is practical. You can quickly and easily hang the cabinets here. If at all, I would use it for upper and lower cabinets. If your wall isn’t straight, some craftsmanship is needed to shim the rail. Dowels and screws depend on your wall. There’s nothing “special” for this.

3.) Personally, I would find white and green nicer, but that’s a matter of taste.

4.) Wait three more weeks with it, then there will be a new range ;)

Thank you very much for the quick answers :)

Wait? Can I still properly attach the back panel once the kitchen is already in place?

I have planned the spacing specifically for the doors so that they can be properly opened.
I will simply use the spirit level once everything is out of the kitchen. And I'll measure again as well. If there are too large deviations, I will probably have someone come. Better safe than sorry.

Best regards
Ingo

The material, glass ceramic, is the same whether white or black. Just get used to lifting the pots/pans when moving them instead of sliding them over the cooktop. Then nothing will happen.

For those interested, here is the result. The back panel is still missing. We first need to look at a few. So far, I am very satisfied with the result. I did everything myself and am not really handy. But it went pretty well :)
