Hello, how does construction debris and dust from 10 years get into the pipes? We are currently building new and with us the pipes are tightly sealed until plastering. I could imagine that maybe a few crumbs of plaster get in when mounting the covers on the outlets, but construction debris? As long as filters are installed, no dust should get into the pipes. To my knowledge, with a "dust allergy" you are not allergic to the dust itself, but to the mite feces, and the mites should not feel comfortable in "inorganic" dust, like that which occurs during the construction phase. Therefore, it should not be dangerous for you if the system is cleaned now. After a few years of operation, it might be different. This system has never been used, however. There is dust from 10 years in the pipes and probably construction debris as well. It has also never been maintained. Now the landlord wants to do that. However, I am allergic to dust, am very afraid of it, and have therefore refused.
I can fully understand your sensitivity to drafts. In centralized ventilation systems in houses, however, the airflow is actually so low that in my opinion it is not noticeable. Therefore, my opinion: Have the system maintained and enjoy the increase in comfort. For me it is a subjective discomfort when I feel the airflow. For me, all windows must always be closed. And then I ventilate several times. That is my preference.
