Hello, how does construction debris and dust from 10 years get into the pipes? We are currently building new and with us the pipes are tightly sealed until plastering. I could imagine that maybe a few crumbs of plaster get in when mounting the covers on the outlets, but construction debris? As long as filters are installed, no dust should get into the pipes. To my knowledge, with a "dust allergy" you are not allergic to the dust itself, but to the mite feces, and the mites should not feel comfortable in "inorganic" dust, like that which occurs during the construction phase. Therefore, it should not be dangerous for you if the system is cleaned now. After a few years of operation, it might be different. I can fully understand your sensitivity to drafts. In centralized ventilation systems in houses, however, the airflow is actually so low that in my opinion it is not noticeable. Therefore, my opinion: Have the system maintained and enjoy the increase in comfort.

Thank you very much for the response. However, I am probably too stupid to understand it. When I moved in, I was told that I did not have to use the system and I have never used it. There are grids in the floor with thin gases inside like a fly screen. And when you take them out for cleaning, everything down in the pipes is dirty.

I do not want such a system and when I rented the place, I was told that I also did not have to run it. I do not want to use it and under no circumstances do I want all the dust to be blown out when it is turned on. That is why I am now quite unsettled.

But probably you cannot understand that if you use such a system. I, on the other hand, feel every breath of air movement and do not want that.

Best regards

I have the feeling that you are looking for the problem and not the solution. As an allergy sufferer, you have the perfect tool in the house, which for some reason has been unused until now. The tip from everyone here: get the expert and the landlord on board and have the system brought into proper condition so that you can use it to your allergy advantage, the technician can do that! ... as an allergy sufferer a counterproductive attitude of course no one forces you to do something sensible In that I read two positions but above all the undeniable: I don’t want that. Whether and how you would feel that in detail you don’t even know yet due to your categorical rejection. Maybe the suffering pressure from the allergy is not sufficient either. I wish you good decisions.

I understand, I only know systems with wall outlets, where dust naturally has a harder time getting in. Maybe there are different/better filters for the floor outlets? Cleaning certainly makes sense then. A specialized company should be able to handle that without filling your apartment with dust.

Yes, I can understand that, I am also extremely sensitive to air movements. In the car's air conditioning, I always turn the vents away from me and keep the system running as low as possible.; On the train, I can't sit by the window because that's where the ventilation is.; In the open-plan office, I have changed desks several times to avoid sitting in the draft from doors or ventilation.; etc.
So I would consider myself sensitive. However, I have really NEVER perceived a controlled residential ventilation system as an airflow. Certainly it's a personal perception, but maybe you can give it a try or possibly test a controlled residential ventilation system somewhere?

If you can feel the airflow of a well-planned and implemented [Kontrollierte-Wohnraumlüftung] at low power, then you can also smell colors.
