Dear forum,
unfortunately, the damage is already done. Today, in the basement of a 1976 single-family house that we purchased,
we tore out soft PVC floors that were only glued with tape. Beneath them was the cast concrete slab of the basement. There was no black adhesive or anything similar present.
In one room, it was a wood-look PVC mat with brown fibers underneath; in the other room, it was a stone-look floor with a light underside.
The PVC floors are still lying in the basement room.
Now it just occurred to us that the whole thing might have contained asbestos...
We know that this is hard to tell based on the pictures. Since we are currently very worried, perhaps a hint from someone with experience would be very helpful.
Samples will be sent to a laboratory tomorrow, but maybe someone can still reassure us...
