Public Viewing - but how is it possible?

Since the 2018 Football World Cup is just around the corner, I recently had the idea that I would like to follow it a bit outdoors...

In my opinion, our carport is best suited for this. The house is on the south side... the garage is on the north side. The west side is protected by transparent panels... only the east side is open.

Dimensions are 3.5 meters x 6 meters...

But so far I only have 2 power outlets and a mini projector available... how would you realize this best? If necessary, I would install a second satellite dish and run a cable... but that is a lot of "effort" for only a little "use"... unless you have a better idea?

I have had only SAT TV all my life... and have zero idea about DVB-T and similar... something might be possible over WLAN as well (?)... The utility room is right next door in the house. So the signal is good...

SAT cable from the existing dish to the carport. There then receiver, projector, speakers with amplifier.

And of course screen.

End

If you have WLAN you can stream the ÖR via the Mediathek.

I would be more concerned about the picture. Cheap projectors can be forgotten outdoors. Either something decent or a screen, preferably with an anti-reflective surface. Or do you sit completely in the shade there?

Unfortunately not that simple... because no passage outside is easily feasible...

Streaming would work... hopefully the stream can handle a crowd?.... so far that would probably be my second-best solution...

Yes, it's completely shaded... there are still bushes on the west side and the neighbor's house...

Directly on the white plaster probably won't work?... I don't need ultra HD with 5.1 sound... but I would like to be able to recognize the players...

Doesn't any reception work via DVB-T...?

So my satellite dish is on the outside anyway. So I don't see any problems. Yours not?

DVB-T would work, but there you have a delay of up to 45 seconds, just like with streaming and IPTV. Especially with football, that's rather a buzzkill.

The neighbors are already celebrating and you're still sitting there waiting to see if anything happens.

That depends on where you live. In some places, DVB-T is great, in others not so much. And then you have the digital problem: when the signal quality drops, nothing happens for a while, then suddenly extreme block formation appears on the picture, and then it’s completely gone. You can no longer keep watching with noise like in analog times. How it is for you, you can either try it out or check on relevant websites.

I’m also skeptical about projectors, but if you already have one, you can just try it out – depending on the weather, it can still be quite bright in the shade in June.

Not unimportant for football, in case you don’t want to invite the whole neighborhood: the transmission paths for TV are not equally fast! I had that during the 2006 World Cup, chatting with a friend over ICQ during the game, and while he was already cheering for a goal, "my" players were still at the midfield line :( But I don’t remember who was watching how (I think I was receiving DVB-T, but I’m not sure).
